Founded in 1867, the OCA is a voluntary, non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation with current membership comprised
of 86 of Ohio's public and private, 2-year and 4-year non-profit colleges and universities. Our mission is:
"...To promote the cause of higher education within the State of Ohio and to encourage inter-institutional communication
and cooperative endeavors on the part of both independent and public non-profit colleges and universities..."
All OCA activities are coordinated by a staff of 2 from a central Office located in Columbus, Ohio. This Central
Office not only serves the public as a higher education resource in Ohio, but also provides information, liaison,
and clearinghouse services for member institutions, public agencies and officials, and affiliated higher education
organizations and interest groups.
Toward College in Ohio: The award winning printed resource to help high school
juniors and seniors, their parents, and counselors make informed decisions regarding post-secondary options in Ohio. Administrative Directory: "The
Telephone Book for Ohio Higher Education" provides the names,
addresses, phone numbers and email addresses for the chief administrators of member institutions.
In order to make the directory even more useful, we have
added vendor information. (Vendor listings are processed by
Naylor Publications.) Educational Programming In cooperation with Ohio regional consortia and other statewide offices, various educational programs
on pertinent topics are presented to the faculty and staff of Ohio's colleges and universities. Section Assistance promoting inter-institutional communication and cooperation
at various levels through the establishment of diverse groups of statewide higher education professional organizations has been
an ongoing priority of the OCA. Spring Presidents' Forum: The OCA's annual meeting is the opportunity for Ohio's institutional
leaders to meet and get acquainted, discuss common issues, and recognize, integrate and cooperate on the concerns that face
Ohio higher education. Workers' Compensation Group Rating Programs Group rating programs in which participating member
institutions collective save over $1.5 mission in annual Workers' Compensation premium and also receive information and training
on safety awareness, accident prevention, and proper accident reporting.

Katherine Williams Wright, M.A., CAE has been with the OCA for over 20 years, and has been chief staff officer/Executive
Director since 1985. She holds a B.S. in Education, M.A. in Higher Education Policy & Leadership, and M.A. in Public
Administration from the Ohio State University, and attained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 1996.
Active in national, statewide, church and community organizations, Ms. Wright currently serves on several Boards and
committees including: the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Society of Association Executives; the Governing Board of the
Ohio Academy of Science; and the Executive Board of the Academic Library Association (ex officio). Ms. Wright has always
valued and believed in education, and is pleased to have had the opportunity, through her work at OCA, to contribute to
the Ohio higher education community and the students which it has served.
Joyce Wright Harris has been with the Ohio College
Association since 1990, first joining the Association as
coordinator of the "Paving the Way" intervention initiative
for middle school students. Ms. Harris attended Denison
University and Penn State University.
